A Place for Dreams

My birthday is August 6th.

Summer of 2009 is still the summer to beat, in my opinion. Too many wonderful things happened and I was a lucky girl, to be quite honest. Turned out I had to be in Chicago during the dates of the mega music festival known as “Lollapalooza”. It also turned out that my absolute favorite band on the planet would be headlining the first night of the fest. Of course I’d be there. (In a much larger crowd than normal)

While I ended up not being front row center like I ideally wanted, I was still at a great spot near the stage for a crowd so massive. Seeing Kings of Leon play with the Chicago skyline involved was an absolute WIN. I remember standing there, staring up at the stage and literally saying “It doesn’t get much better than this..”

The Giant screens surrounding the guys were awesome, and had to be comforting for those squinting to see the stage. I even found myself watching them half of the time, just because it was great to see close ups of their faces as they create the kind of music that I can only describe as ESSENTIAL.  

Lollapalooza 2009 remains one of the best weekends I’ve ever had, with August 7th, 2009 being one of the best nights. LOVE.
